Check the following.
NOTE1: First run ISQL_W (MS SQL) or SQL Worksheet (ORACLE) to update the"server_cache" table in the
ARSYSTEM database to see the new server name if it has changed.
There should only be one server name in this table and it should be the serverid of 1.
NOTE 2: If you are using Table Fields on Remedy server v4.0x, you will also need to update the "field_table"
table in
ARSYSTEM database. In the "tfServer" column you will need to set the new name for the server wherever the old
name is
referenced.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cleaning the old server name from workflow.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
At the Remedy Server :
1) Export all the Active Links, Filters, Escalations and Menus from Remedy server as "Server Independent".
2) Run the utility "arclean" against the definition file exported in step 1 to clean out the old name.
You can get arclean at http://www.remedy.com/appgall/util/cat1/index.htm
It is an unsupported, command line utility but will make this step much easier for you.
Arclean is **case sensitive*** in regards to the server name it's cleaning, and in order to clean out all
references of the old server name properly, you may need to identify any references to that server name, for
example a short alias (i.e. "Servername") or a fully qualified domain name ("Servername.company.com") by
opening the .def file in a simple text editor like Notepad and searching for the servername in there to see how it
may be displayed there. Do not use notepad to edit the server name but use arclean instead.
You will need to run arclean for each representation of the server name you find if they are displayed in different
cases.
3) Using the Remedy Admin Tool, at the new server delete all the Active Links, Filters, escalations and Menus
**only**.
NOTE: Do **not** delete the Schemas (called Forms in 4.0x) as the data records are stored in these objects
4) Import the workflow on the new Remedy server using the "ar-cleaned" definitions created earlier.
The records for your data are stored on the schemas. As the schemas themselves do not hold the server name,
the purpose of step 3 is to remove workflow only and replace it with the "ar-cleaned" definition file created
earlier. It is during the import process that the correct servername will be added to the workflow.
